Alright Colin, you asked for it so here it is ...

Alien conspiracy theorists received a little vindication on Thursday, as Dr. Edgar Mitchell, a 77-year old, former NASA astronaut, broke rank during a radio interview to deliver the message that we are not alone in the universe. Aliens have been in contact with and have visited the planet earth on several occasions, and Mitchell lent credence to the fact that for the last 60 years there has been a concerted effort on the part of the government to cover up these visitations and hide them from the general public.

The Apollo 14 veteran, claimed that the Aliens were described as "little people who look strange to us," by NASA personnel who have had direct contact with the beings. He also warned that our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated," as theirs and, "had they been hostile ... we would be been gone by now".

"I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real," Dr Mitchell said.

"It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have been briefed on some of it."

"I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited. Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit."

Dr Mitchell went on to divulge that the Roswell incident was in fact real and similar alien visits continue to be investigated.

"This is really starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some serious organizations are moving in that direction," Dr. Mitchell told host Nick Margerrison of the English talkradio program The Night Before on Kerrang! Radio out of Birmingham, England.

In a statement to Kerrang! Radio, a NASA spokesperson had the following comment in response: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe. Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinion on this issue."

Digesting all of this information, as thrilling as it may be for the UFologist within me, I have to take issue with some of the statements made by Dr. Mitchell on the grounds that I still contend that the moon landing was staged on a Hollywood backlot ... I've seen the convincing photographic evidence! I also find it rather timely that Dr. Mitchell has decided to come forward with this new evidence just prior to the premiere of the new X-Files movie this weekend. But the "Truth is out There," our first dissident has made his way over to the dark side and more are sure to follow. So stay tuned America...
